OrfeoKASIMIR AND KAROLINE
Kasimir and Karoline is one of the most important socio-critical folk plays of the first half of the twentieth century. The story takes place at the fairground. The exuberant atmosphere is in stark contrast to the cheerless love tragedy to which we are witness. Despite their love, Kasimir and Karoline do not succeed in escaping from their deprived social environment. Horváth himself said of the play: "It is the ballad of the unemployed driver Kasimir and his bride, a ballad full of silent sadness, softened by humour; or at any rate by the banal insight that 'we all have to die'."

This HeartIn ugliness
In ugliness by Touki Delphine is about the ugly things in life. Monsters that is. Monsters have always fascinated us. Ugly sounds, ugly smells, ugly creations, ugly thoughts and ugly acts. They evoke our curiosity.
With a live band, the latest performance by Touki Delphine will burst with energy when necessary and reach the amount of rock 'n roll that can be expected of them. Absurd performances and an overdose of inspiring music and texts.
Touki Delphine consists of Bo Koek, Rik Elstgeest and John van Oostrum.

That Touki Delphine (Bo Koek, Rik Elstgeest and John van Oostrum) made its name with Ghostbusters is due to the refreshingly absurd slant of the performance and their terse musical style. The infectiousness and innocent madness that characterised this performance now has a sequel: Rocket. About fried eggs with broken yolks, intergalactic bangs and the sense of release.

On Friday April 21 Euripides’s tragedy The Suppliants opened in the Leidse Schouwburg. For this music theatre production the Veenfabriek collaborated with the Greek Theseum ensemble. Paul Koek and Michael Marmarinos co-directed the performance. Apart from eight Dutch and Greek actors, the cast consisted of five musicians (among whom three members of the former Dutch ‘sample pop’ group Kopna Kopna) whose wayward compositions approach this tragedy as if it were a concert.

De Veenfabriek De Veenfabriek
The Veenfabriek is music theatre ensemble under artistic direction of Paul Koek. The Veenfabriek works as a cooperative of artists and scientists relating to each other's work and mentality, as well as to society, science and the trade. Therefore, the Veenfabriek is more than just a music theatre company undertaking to produce a number of performances each year. Without distancing itself from this important mission, the Veenfabriek simultaneously focuses on its permanent research into new forms of performing arts in which various art disciplines confront each other.
The Veenfabriek is a place where reality is tangible and stubbornness reveals itself. A place where artists, musicians and scientists work together to present their reflection on society in an aesthetic form and touch the audience.
